Our Nursery Class

Welcome to all our Little Blues!

We are delighted to welcome all new starters into our class and hope you enjoy your first big adventure to school.

Staff

From April 2021 Miss Blackburn  will be teaching full time (on a temporary contact with the fantastic help of Mrs Wareing in the mornings and Mrs Cameron in the afternoons. This year we have made a few changes to the timetable. We are doing Maths and Literacy in the mornings and Messy Play, PE, Expressive Arts and Design, Baking and enabling environments/Continuous Provision in the afternoons. As a team we decided the mornings were the best time to be productive and the afternoons fun and engaging as we noticed a few tired ones in the afternoon especially at this time of year!

We also are lucky enough to have an apprentice teaching assistant Mr Kilgallon helping us in the mornings!

My First Book

Last week we sent home “My First Book” and we are looking forward to getting them back to explore with the children and find out a little bit more about home. This really gives us a chance for your children to open up to us and get to know everyone better. Just a warning, In some cases they already have.. In others, your secrets are about to be revealed!

If you have not been given one of these books it may have been misplaced or taken by another child by mistake.  Please feel free to ask for one!

Coats

Just a reminder about coats – As the days draw shorter, darker and colder we ask you to make sure your child brings a warm waterproof coat to school (with a name in please!)

Forest Schools

We are lucky enough to have a fabulous Forest School area attached to our Nursery and a fantastic forest school leader Mrs Wareing! Forest School sessions will usually run on a Friday Morning as a weekly occurrence but we will do some catch up sessions if children have missed out. Waterproof coats are essential; we go out in any and every condition! In our classroom have a wide range of wellies but feel free to provide your child’s own if you prefer. We are sometimes short on sized 7,8,9!

Getting Messy!

Messy play allows children to build, imagine, experience, investigate, explore, create, observe, predict and use all of the senses. It is also great fun!

On Monday, we do messy play, Thursday baking and Friday Forest schools so please be prepared for your child to come home a little messy. We try to encourage aprons and waterproofs etc but as you can imagine this does not always go to plan!
